What installers pay for
Installers pay us per job. Exactly how that's worked out, and whether there's any other fee, is still being decided: installer pricing model.
An installer's quote to you is theirs to set. What they pay us is one of their business costs, like advertising or fuel for the van, and we won't pretend it's invisible.
What you pay
Nothing. Not for sending the form, not if you take the quote, and not if you don't. If anyone asks you for money on our behalf, don't pay it, and tell us.
Whether the installer charges to prepare a quote is up to them. Consumer Protection says a business that does charge for a quote must tell you beforehand.
Where the money could pull us, and what we do about it
Being paid per job gives us a reason to pass on as many jobs as possible. We'd rather say that out loud than pretend the incentive isn't there.
A few things keep it in check. Installers only see jobs in the work they specialise in. Your job goes first to the local installers who cover your area, and only if none of them takes it within 48 hours may heat pump installers elsewhere in your region see it. And our guides are written from named sources, with no installer writing or approving them, as our editorial policy sets out.
What we don't earn from
We're not a dealer for any heat pump brand and we don't sell units, so we make nothing from which model you choose. Whether we'll ever carry advertising or sponsored content: advertising and sponsorship policy.
We're not part of EECA or the Government either. Warmer Kiwi Homes is EECA's programme, and who's eligible for one of its grants is EECA's call, not ours or an installer's.
Why this page exists
The Fair Trading Act bans misleading or deceptive conduct in trade, and how a referral site is paid is the kind of thing people should know before they use one. So the quote card says it in a line, and this page says it in full.
If any of it raises a question, ask us on the contact page. We'd rather you asked.
